In keeping up with this themeless week, which started with country-ish alternative, moved to old-time jazz, we now go to classical romanticism via Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, his only piano concerto and a favorite piece of mine. Here is the first movement:

This is a recent and pretty excellent recording by an outfit called the Skidmore College Orchestra, and the soloist is Neil O’Doan, neither of whom I know anything about. You can download Vorbis files ((I really wish Flash would support embedding ogg files. It makes no sense not to do so. )) of each movement at the link above, or MP3s at the link below.
