Gun control in action

leave a comment »

Great Britain has very, very restrictive gun control. So restrictive that their Olympic pistol shooting team must train outside of their own country(!).

So the sceptered isle must be an incredibly safe place to live, at least insofar as gun violence goes, right?

A 15-year-old boy has been shot dead in his bedroom after two men forced their way into his home early this morning. His sister called an ambulance but he died in less than an hour.

The murder is the latest in a spate of attacks in the Peckham area of south-east London. On Saturday, a 21-year-old man was stabbed to death in Southampton Way and on Sunday a man in his 40s was shot dead and another injured at a flat less than a mile away.

James Andre Smarrt-Ford, 16, was also killed in south London after he was shot at least twice at an ice rink in Streatham on Saturday night. Today, Scotland Yard’s Operation Trident team, which investigates gun crime in the black community, launched a murder inquiry into the latest shooting of the pupil of St Michael’s Secondary School in Bermondsey.

Oh. Guess not.

(And remember, gun control is to protect the children.)

  1. Scary considering the ‘state of exception’ you Englishmen currently enjoy. I must note that if your government is not able to be a nanny, it shouldn’t play one. But whatever, I wager James Andre Smarrt-Ford knows that better than I do.

Still, gun control isn’t entirly irrational; my ar-15, glock and massive American nutsack will not save me from the random street violence that haunts my braggarts cry of freedom.

  2. Whom are you addressing, John? I’m American, born and raised.

As for your straw man, send him back to Oz and come back when you’ve learned to frame arguments with more logic and less of a sneer in your manner.
