Quote of the day

I pulled out my mobile and rang Central. Luckily, Jenny was still in the studio.

‘Jenny? Listen — there’s some kind of freak outside the station.’

‘What kind of freak?’

‘A weirdo in camouflage gear — he was hiding in the car park. He followed me down the street and jumped on my car.’

‘God — are you OK?’

‘Yeah, I’m fine, but he might hang around there. Be careful. Have Geoff leave the security desk for a while and escort you to your car.’

‘Right… Um — Keith’s already started down…’

‘Well… I should warn him.’

‘Yes. You should.’

‘Yes… I mean… We have to warn Keith, yeah?’

‘Because we wouldn’t want him to be attacked by a maniac, would we?’

‘No. Not at all.’

‘So… I’ll go and do that straight away, then, Rob.’

‘Straight away, Jenny. Yes.’

‘Rob… ?’

She paused for a few seconds. I paused with her.

‘Oh shite,’ she said at last. ‘It’s like that moral dilemma of whether you’d kill Hitler when he was a child… OK. OK. I’m going to warn Keith now. I just hope history forgives me.’ She hung up the phone.
