Honor is the name that used to be given to the will to assert the one identity over the other. If you attack me because I am American, honor dictates that I must counterattack and defeat you because you are Islamicist—since you have shown me that being an Islamicist means being an enemy of America.

  3. I dunno.

He says “honor”, but the example he gives is an example of the instinct of self-preservation.

Also, I think his definition of “honor” is even further off than his example of “honor”.

“The will to assert one identity over another” sounds more like “pride” to me.

“Honor” is more about doing what is right, even when it’s inconvenient.
